Opening the door to independent living
10
We have progressed by working in
more local authority areas than we
ever have done before. Some of this
has been through the award of new
contracts. From May 2010, we have
been providing services to children
and families across Bournemouth,
Dorset and Poole. In October 2010, we
began providing direct payment advice
to individuals living in Middlesbrough.
April 2011 saw us working in East
Riding of Yorkshire. Most recently
(August 2011), we resumed providing
services across London Borough of
Brent. We are also currently setting up
new offices to enable us to work in
London Borough of Croydon and
Cumbria. We are delighted to be
working with these local authorities
and have been able to support people
in these areas to establish their own
packages of care that meet their very
individual needs.
Director of Operations’ Report
The past year has been one of
progression, change and growth for
Penderels Trust as local authorities
place an increasing focus on
personalising services for individuals
with disabilities. Our trustees and staff
have always been committed to
designing our services around
individual need and this has placed us
in an excellent position to move
forward as more and more people opt
for personal budgets and/or direct
payments. This has been an exciting
and challenging time for the Trust as
we have supported thousands of
individuals with support planning,
advice and guidance, brokerage
services, money management and
payroll, enabling them to continue
living independently in their local
community.
