Opening the door to independent living
9
Much of the above has been
instigated, developed or overseen by
Paul Reynolds. Whether persuading
local authorities to extend or revise
their contract with us, bidding for new
work, looking for new opportunities
or developing existing ones, Paul has
been instrumental in helping to
develop the Trust and safeguarding
the organisation’s future. He has my
sincere thanks.
No annual report would be complete
without mention of the support and
leadership provided by the board of
trustees. Recognised as a user led
organisation, our board consists of
individuals who have been, or who
currently are, users of our services,
or who have specific related skills.
We were all saddened at the sudden
death of Peter Henson who made a
significant contribution to the work of
the board. This was followed some
months later by the resignation of
James Moraghen to enable him
undertake other responsibilities and
then more recently, the resignation of
Jan Pugh. This has depleted the
board and we are currently actively
looking for new trustees. More
information is available as part of our
AGM Roadshows, in our next
newsletter and on our website -
www.penderelstrust.org.uk.
Despite having to make some difficult
decisions during the past 12 months,
the trustees remain committed to the
future development of Penderels
Trust, the individuals we support and
the ethos of independent living.
They, together with the senior staff
team, look forward not only to
surviving the current economic
situation, but continuing to grow and
develop in order to enhance the lives
of people with disabilities.
