The Jonathan and Julie Beecham
Awards 2011
Jonathan was a service-user for many
years, and his parents, Terry and
Jean, established the Jonathan
Beecham Award a number of years
ago to support disabled people and
promote personal independence.
Sadly, Jonathan’s sister, Julie, who was
one of the first people to be supported
by Penderels Trust when we began
back in the 1980s, passed away in
April 2011 and the award will continue
in both their names.
This year an award of £500 will be
made to an individual who can
demonstrate how this award would
improve their quality of life.
In previous years, the award has been
used in many ways. For example, one
year it was used to purchase special
equipment to enable someone to listen
to music independently. Another year,
it was used to purchase equipment for
a multi-sensory room to benefit
disabled children. Other purchases
include specialist riding boots, plants
for a sensory garden and a massage
chair for a new business.
Any user of a Penderels Trust service
can apply and we are now seeking
applications for the 2011 award.
Previous applicants are encouraged to
apply. Details on how to apply will be
available at our roadshows and in our
forthcoming newsletter.
