About the Employer

Duties before school include : Child is a 14 year old girl with mild physical and intellectual difficulties, needing support before and after school three days per week. Light duties include meal preparation and supervision and limited personal care support. Specifically : • Helping to get ready to go to school from home - starting at 7.30am • This includes helping with packing bags, ensuring lunch and essential school items (e.g PE kit) is prepared and packed. • Helping into the taxi every morning and handing over to the chaperone • Helping with before school learning activity (15 mins of reading / sight words) • Occasionally may include preparation of snacks / breakfast and light personal care (e.g helping with brushing teeth). • Ensuring child is clean and presentable for the school day • Receiving child from taxi at home • Helping to change out of school uniform into own clothes • Preparing and supervising a light snack (not usually an evening meal) • Unpacking school bag and preparing for the next day • Handing over to parents at 5.30pm

About the Role


Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.



The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Transport Requirement

Car driver preferred but not essential.

• Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
