We are thrilled to announce that the Beecham Family Award is now open for 2026. This year, the Trustees have agreed to increase the maximum amount that can be applied for to £750.
Last year, we made eight awards and we are hoping to offer at least that many again in 2026. Please take the time to read the Guidance Notes carefully (you can download them from the bottom of this page) as we have added more information.
The Beechams were a family whose children, Julie and Jonathan, were supported over many years by Penderels Trust. Julie and Jonathan were born with cerebral palsy and were supported by the Trust to live full, independent lives. Jonathan passed away in 2000 and Julie lived until 2011. Following Jonathan's death, their parents, Terry and Jean, established an award in his honour which was given out each year to people with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives.
In 2018, following the deaths of Terry and Jean within a few months of one another, Penderels Trust received a bequest in their will in recognition of the work we have done with Jonathan and Julie. We have used this to set up a permanent fund which has allowed us to re-establish the Beecham Family Award.
The Beecham Family Award is a scheme open to anyone who uses Penderels Trust services. Awards will be made to cover the total cost of something that will improve wellbeing and independence up to a maximum of £750 per award. We run the scheme every year in the Autumn. The 2026 award scheme is now open for applications .
Anyone receiving support from Penderels Trust is welcome to apply. If needed, a family member, friend, representative, or another trusted person can complete the application form on their behalf.
