About the employer

I am dad to a young boy who is severely autistic. He is non-verbal but he has started to repeat words, and he can communicate by pointing at pictures. He wears nappies but there should be very little personal care needed while outside of the family home, if any at all. He does not like loud noises and he has many triggers which can cause him to nip and bite when he is distressed, so he needs routine as he does not adapt well to change. He does not have any road awareness or safety awareness so he needs to be closely monitored. He is also frightened of dogs and he is also allergic to them. He is a happy, energetic boy who loves the outdoors, so I am looking for a kind, caring PA to support my son, to give me a break from my caring role.

About the role

Duties and responsibilities

Develop a good and trusting one-to-one working relationship.

The individual's needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately and to report defects or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure. Costs will be covered.

Transport requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.

Required skills

Previous experience in childcare/special needs is essential.
