This is not your typical support role. We are looking for a very special person to support a lovely 29-year-old woman with huge potential, who needs someone firm, fun and adaptable to help her build confidence and develop independence. She is kind, gentle and caring. She loves animals, music, colouring and spending time with people she trusts. While she can be extremely quiet and anxious when out in the community, at home she is chatty, loves singing and dancing, and has a fantastic sense of humour. Our goal is to help the outside world see more of the Beth we know and love. Beth requires 1:1 support (but only prompts for personal care), guidance and encouragement. Traditional groups and day centres are not suitable for her, so we are looking for someone who can offer a more personalised approach. Ideally, support would be based from a PA's home, helping Beth develop life skills, keep active, access the community, and gradually build the confidence needed to enjoy activities such as leisure centres, volunteering opportunities and making social connections. The ideal applicant will be patient and understanding but also confident enough to gently challenge Beth, encourage her to step outside her comfort zone and celebrate every achievement along the way. A love of animals is essential, and having a friendly dog would be a huge bonus, as Beth absolutely loves dogs and feels much more relaxed around them. This role is about more than providing support. It's about helping a wonderful young woman discover her confidence, develop new skills and experience the life she desperately wants to live. Due to the nature of the work, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure. Costs will be covered.
