About the employer

A warm, reliable, and encouraging Personal Assistant is required to support a friendly 21-year-old young man in developing greater independence and confidence in managing everyday life. This is not primarily a care or supervision role. The successful candidate will work alongside him, providing support with areas such as planning his week, organising activities and appointments, using public transport, budgeting, shopping, cooking, communication, and developing the practical skills needed to manage day-to-day life more independently. The focus of the role is to promote and encourage independence, supporting him to achieve tasks for himself rather than doing things on his behalf. He is a friendly and capable young man who already manages many aspects of daily life independently. The ideal candidate will be someone who can build a positive and trusting relationship with him, recognise his strengths, and provide gentle encouragement and support in the areas he finds more challenging. Experience of supporting young adults with learning difficulties or additional needs would be beneficial; however, personal qualities and approach are equally important. Patience, reliability, strong organisational skills, a good sense of humour, and a genuine belief in people’s abilities to develop and achieve their goals are essential attributes for this role. The position offers regular weekly hours, with some flexibility to accommodate activities, appointments, and his schedule.
