About the employer

I'm an autistic woman in my early 30s, a Biology university student, with a gothic/alternative style, a dark sense of humour and a very busy life! My home is lively, loud and chaotic most of the time, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I have eight pets, including three cats, two rabbits, an African pygmy hedgehog and two very large, very energetic dogs. I'm looking for a friendly, reliable, down to earth Personal Assistant (or two PAs sharing the hours) who has a good sense of humour, genuinely loves animals and is confident around large dogs. My health and support needs: I have several physical and mental health conditions, multiple allergies and a contamination phobia. I can sometimes faint or become unwell, so I need someone who can remain calm, practical and level-headed rather than panicking. I'm very particular about household rules, hygiene and routines, both for my own safety and for my animals. I need someone who is willing to learn and consistently follow these procedures, takes them seriously and respects why they're important. A strong stomach and a willingness to help with the less glamorous aspects of daily life are essential! My animals: My animals are a huge part of my life, so genuinely loving animals is essential, not just tolerating them. My two dogs are large, energetic and excitable. They're both in ongoing training, so I need someone who is confident around them and willing to follow their established training rules, cues and boundaries consistently. One of my cats has pica, so following household precautions to keep potentially dangerous items out of reach is also essential. How I'd like us to work together: I'm looking for someone who will support me to maintain my independence, not take over my home or my life. I enjoy collaboration, communication and working together to find practical solutions. I appreciate suggestions and initiative, but I'd like my PA to check in with me rather than independently deciding to carry out tasks or change routines. I'm looking for a supportive working relationship built on mutual respect, clear communication, reliability and a sense of humour. I'd particularly welcome someone who understands autism and ADHD, enjoys goth/emo/alternative culture or has similar interests, although these aren't essential requirements.
