About the Employer

I am a gentleman is recovering from a stroke and regaining some facility in my own mobility. I am independent and active with a good sense of humour.

I have a small dog and cat.


Summary of Duties

Support once a week for the gentleman to go sailing at Rutland Waters. The boat is 24ft long and has a berth and cabin.

You will not be required to support with the sailing itself unless you wish to do so and all safety equipment including a life jacket is provided.

In summer, lunch is usually a barbeque or similar and there are café facilities too. 

You will support with medication prompting and be vigilant to the gentleman getting overly tired – you will learn this through experience.

 

My/the needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.


The Person They Are Looking For

The person I am looking for will have

  • experience of being a support worker
  • a good sense of humour and an ability to hold a conversation
  • an interest in sailing, but this is not essential

 

Full driving licence is essential as the role requires you to drive the employer’s vehicle, for insurance purposes you must be a minimum age of 25.

The Times Required

One day a week usually Monday or Tuesday  9am-5pm all year round, although if weather prevents sailing you will be engaged in other activities such as shopping.
