About the Employer

I am looking to recruit two Support Workers to assist my son; he is a young man with complex health needs living in Stainton, Middlesbrough. He has spinal injuries and is ventilated. My son is interested in space and enjoys undertaking educational courses. He enjoys watching comedies and listening to a range of music. I have a small dog.


Summary of Duties

Summary of duties:

To assist in personal and domestic care duties for an individual with a spinal injury who is ventilated. This includes skin, bladder and bowel management, moving and handling, food preparation and ability to communicate well. Full training will be provided on the job.

To carry out and undertake specific and general tasks which will provide good quality of support, health, welfare and well-being.

The needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.


The Person They Are Looking For

We are looking for individuals who thrive on supporting others whilst always maintaining health and client safety.

You will be expected to adhere to a high level of hygiene at all times to ensure the my son has a clean and safe environment to prevent infections

Experience of working with ventilated and complex health needs is desirable. You will be working with another carer on shift.

We are looking for someone with a QCF/NVQ qualification in Health & Social care or a willingness to complete a qualification in Health & Social care.

Tracheostomy experience is desirable although full training will be given.

You’ll need to have empathy, a can-do approach and excellent communication skills to join us.

You will be expected to commit yourself to developing skills and knowledge as identified by you, your line manager and the people you support.

You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.

Due to the shifts you will be required to work you must be a minimum age of 18.

You should be kind, compassionate, enthusiastic, a good time keeper, reliable and able to work well on own and also follow instructions from both your team and employer.

To be person centred in all aspects of your role.

The Times Required

Each PA will work 24hrs per week.

 

2 x 12 hour shifts (1 x day, 1 x night) 8am-8pm

2 x 12 hour shifts (2x day) 8pm-8am

 

There will be the opportunity for additional shifts to cover holidays.

 

The working hours will be discussed further at interview.
