Job Reference: SAL1444966JB1 Expires: 2nd October 2019
I am a lady with profound physical disabilities who relies on my staff team for support 24 hours a day. I am a bubbly character with a friendly, easy going manner and a good sense of humour.
I am interested in science and technology, history and politics. In my spare time I like reading or going to the cinema. I am a computer scientist and spend a lot of time on my laptop.
I like bakery shows and TV dramas like Killing Eve, period dramas, Game of Thrones, Line of Duty, and scandi crime dramas. I also like to keep up to date with the soaps.
I am looking for a Senior Personal Assistant to be part of my support team but also to assist me with rotas and be responsible for ordering medication.
I need support with all aspects of daily life, to include personal care, healthcare needs and household chores such as washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning.
In addition, I am given nutrition and medication through a PEG (a tube inserted in my stomach), which you would be trained to administer.
I also use a ventilator (BiPAP) 24/7 to help me breathe. This will need to be monitored and checked regularly and the tubes need to be cleaned and changed. Training will be provided. I also use a cough-assist and nebulizer.
My needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.
I am looking for a flexible, reliable person to join my existing staff team and also have additional responsibilities. Experience of working with people with complex health needs is preferred, although training will be provided. I am looking for someone with experience of a ventilator (BiPAP) or who is willing to learn. My PAs need to have the physical skills required for lifting, handling, pushing and bending. They must have excellent communication skills, be competent, fit, energetic and motivated but also, importantly, kind, patient and trustworthy.
The successful candidate will be part of a staff team providing 24 hour support.
