About the Employer

You will be reporting to the mother of a young man with PMLD and physical disabilities and health conditions.

Summary of Duties

Personal Duties: in the home and outside; fully supporting the person with mobility problems with personal care such as getting up in the morning, washing/bathing, undressing and dressing, toileting including incontinence.  Training by a nurse and mother will be given to follow a catheter routine and taking care to prevent health problems.  To use a hoist for transfers. To follow a medicine routine and taking care to be given via the gastronomy mic-key extension.  To follow a dietician’s feed routine via the gastronomy mic-key extension via pump (training provided) and bolus method.  To carry out spasticity management routines such as stretches or physio plus assist with hydro sessions. Overall you will follow a routine to maintain health and to be alert to triggers that could cause health issues.

Domestic Duties:  light cleaning, to maintain a clean and hygienic environment and use of washing machine when required.  Complete basic routine record monitoring.

Social Duties: To assist in socialisation and activities and promote/encourage friendship and independence.  To interact and engage with activities.  To drive the wheelchair accessible vehicle.  To assist with appointments when required.

These duties may vary from day to day.  Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.

The Person They Are Looking For

Preferred: previous experience of supporting someone with PMLD and physical disabilities and health conditions.

Essential:  Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check (paid for by the employer) and provide 2 written references.

You should also hold a clean full UK driving lience.

You should be enthusiastic, caring, understanding, reliable, honest, patient, flexible and be committed to the role.

Tuesday 1.15pm to 4.30pm

Thursday 1.15pm to 6.30pm

Saturday 10.00am to 3.00pm
