About the Employer

We are looking for a Personal Assistant/Support worker, a caring applicant to join our team and loving family in supporting a content non verbal, adult male, within his family home, who is autistic, routine oriented, has complex epilepsy, is doubly incontinence and has severe learning disabilities and global delay. He is noise sensitive. 

We are a Christian family where worship music and services are played. We are also a non smoking environment due to medical conditions of family members.Applicants cannot wear perfumes or spray deodorants due to health conditions of family.Applicants should enjoy a slower and quieter pace of life, as quite a lot of time is sitting and observing the young man who enjoys peace and quiet and is noise sensitive.

At least 2 years experience and training in supporting individuals with complex epilepsy and autism.

Experienced in following care plans, writing daily diaries and completing medication charts. 

Always Working alongside either a team member or family members, due to a 2/1 DOL, A Person centred approach, Supporting in all personal care needs, after probation and training, when young man is comfortable with you.

Preparing meals, drinks - when had training, as gluten free, Daily Light household and ironing duties

Responding to any health or seizures, administering emergency medication on the rare occasion it is needed, after probation and training

Supporting young man’s health, wellbeing and support needs, Monitoring/supporting throughout shift.

Writing and completing daily diaries and medication charts.

PPE is worn when delivering personal care or preparing food- masks must be worn in presence of employer and young man. Regular care breaks are given.

Applicants must be able to support and follow the young man when he is walking up/down stairs, walking around the home and garden or in the community. 

15 hours per week - hours can be flexible within a working day, not evenings or Saturdays, but includes working one Sunday a month- 8.30am-2pm

Be able to cover sickness and holiday cover. 

*Unfortunately we cannot offer more hours due to a fixed care package

Holidays include both Easter and Christmas as part of your holiday entitlement.

He has epilepsy and seizures can be unpredictable. You alongside the other carer present will be responsible for responding to any seizures with first aid, moving and handling and administering emergency medication on the rare occasion it is needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.

Supporting young man’s health, wellbeing and support needs. Monitoring/supporting when going up/down stairs, walking around the home and garden. PPE is worn and lateral flows weekly, >
Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication.


The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Must have experience supporting individuals with epilepsy and following care plans. The applicant must have quick responses in case of any seizures A caring individual who will support and care for our son in a person-centred way.

Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.

Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.
First Aid. Training will be provided by the employer.
Epilepsy. Training will be provided by the employer.•Qualification and experience in Safe Handling of Medications •Epilepsy and medication-Buccolam trained •Safeguarding Adults •Manual handling •Level 2 Standard Food Safety Course -Training will be given during Probation and throughout employment.
