This position will require:
• Waking nights
• Shift work

About the Employer

Our son is a 23-year-old and lives in his own home. He has a severe learning disability, autism, epilepsy and behaviours that can be of challenge. My son is always supported with 2 workers, working together to support his 24 hour living needs. Shifts  7pm – 7am on 2 week consistent rotating shift pattern.

Additional duties and responsibilities include: 

  • To support safe play in the home.
  • To support with promote positive engagement.
  • To engage in art and craft activities.
  • To guide with dressing up and Lego building
  • To be clear and consistent and follow care plan guidelines.
  • To be willing to undertake on the role training and developing personal learning skills.
  • To have patience and be able to remain calm in difficult and tense moments of challenge.
  • To have the patience and sense of humour to watch Disney movies on repeat.
  • To be able to work in a noisy environment.
  • To be work as part of a small team.
  • To manage his laundry needs and bedroom/his living space environments safety and domestic chores.
  • To be able to read story books.
  • To be able to support with garden play activities, even in the middle of the night.
  • To join our existing team of care workers who are friendly, approachable with a good sense of humour, to help our son to live the best life.

About the Role


Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
• Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.

Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication.


The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

This position is for a permanent waking night workers. Full predictable two week shift rotation

Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.


First Aid. Training will be provided by the employer.
Epilepsy. Training will be provided by the employer.Full care training will be provided annually.
