I am both the employer and mother of my son who is diagnosed with Autism, OCD and a learning disability I am looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to assist in the provision of 1-1 support, to meet my son’s assessed needs by Sunderland Council and to enable me to go to work on his days he is not at college providing him with the opportunity to access social activities in the community with someone other than a family or support him within the home if he wants to stay home. My son requires support with his personal care as he may need assistance with toileting, to help clean him. He lacks motivation and does not enjoy getting wet or being active outdoors. He enjoys watching films, retro games and eating at McDonalds He likes going to museums, libraries and more recently going bowling, however he has a passion and love of everything Disney related. My son is a great communicator and is able to articulate his interests, likes and dislikes. He is particularly fond of shopping in charity shops and is familiar with where these are within the town and surrounding areas. He enjoys spending time browsing The PA will be required to support and assist in managing some of the behaviors he displays when anxious, he often repeats things and requires a lot of reassurance and very clear answers to questions to minimize the anxieties he may be experiencing.
