About the Employer

I am a lady that lives in my own home and try to remain as independent as possible.  I am quadriplegic which affects paralysis of both arms and legs. So I need support with Personal care, transferring, food preparation and light house work duties.  I use an electric wheelchair inside and outside the home.

A small team of female only P/A’s is required to provide daily support there are morning shifts, lunch time shifts and tea time shifts that will need to be covered.  As part of a team you will also need to be flexible to cover Annual leave and any sick leave as required.


Summary of Duties

Morning duties

  • Support me to wash on bed before transfer
  • Use hoist to get me out of bed
  • Support from bed to bathroom and onto toilet
  • Support to shower when required, (I use a shower seat) and hair hair washing
  • Support with drying
  • Apply cream to body as required
  • Hoist me to enable me to put my pad on
  • Support with dressing
  • Clean bathroom after use
  • Make bed and change bedding as necessary
  • Support with Laundry
  • Make drinks and breakfast
  • Prepare lunch time food and evening meal as required

 

Lunch time duties

  • Support with toileting
  • Use hoist to enable me to put a pad on
  • Make drinks and lunch if required

 

Tea Time support

  • Support with toileting
  • Use hoist to enable me to put my pad on
  • Makes drinks and food as required
  • Support me to put on my night ware if required
  • Ensure I am comfortable for the evening.

  • Be patient, supportive, caring and positive with a good sense of humour.
  • Be honest, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with people who have physical disabilities  
  • Clear communication skills
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Flexibility and good availability
  • The ability to think on your feet

The Times Required

Weeks 1, 2 and 3: Wednesday and Thursday, 5-6.a.m. or 5.30-6.30 a.m.

Week 4: Thursday and Sunday: 5-6.a.m. or 5.30-6.30 a.m.(2 hours) 

Lunch time: 12-12.30 Tuesday – Sunday (3 hours)

Tea time: 4-4.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday(2.5 hours)
