I am a young man with severe learning disabilities and autism. I require 24:7 support to enable me to live in my own home and to access leisure pursuits in my community. My mum will be your employer and we are looking for a support worker to join our team. At times I display behaviour that challenges but I am also sociable, lively, and fun to be with. I enjoy music and car rides. My interests include church bells, steam trains and jet aeroplanes. Your hours will form part of a shift pattern which covers 24 hours including sleeping nights. The sleeping night does not stand alone but has £11 per hour rate 20.00-22.00, followed by sleeping night, followed by £11 per hour from 07.00 finishing at 15.00 or 20.00. There are some stand-alone daytime shifts 15.00-20.00 and 12.00-20.00 We are looking for someone to join our friendly and committed team which includes paid staff and family members working together to provide the best possible care and support. Person Centred Care and Positive Behaviour Support are at the core of our ethos. Experience of working with people who display challenging behaviour would be an advantage although not essential as training will be given. Please be aware that behaviour may include verbal and physical aggression. We do not define challenging behaviour as “a bit awkward or uncooperative”.
