I am the employer and mother to my young daughter who has Cerebral Palsy, mobility issues and Epilepsy which is controlled by medication. My daughter is PEG fed and requires support with all personal care. As such, has been offered direct payments to enable her some 1-1 support to assist her on social outings and to support us as a family to attend activities and events with her siblings. My daughter has a limited vocabulary and is considered pre-verbal, however, she is familiar with some basic visual cards and Makaton, to assist in communication. She has no awareness of danger, which makes her very vulnerable so she will need someone who will be able to always supervise her and provide her with the attention and stimulation she requires. She loves activities which are sensory led, messy play and water play etc. She likes being outdoors, going to parks, the beach and farms. She has the use of a specialist pushchair for any outings. She really struggles in environments which are noisy or have sudden noises (such as a loud buzzer or screaming). I am seeking a PA who will be able to do fun things with her and to spend time with us as a family on days out so that I can spend time with my other two children, too. TASKS REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED OR SUPPORTED BY THE PA The PA will be required to support my daughter providing her friendship and stimulation, support and supervision in her chosen activities The successful personal assistant will be required to support my daughter and us as a family the opportunity in accessing the community, engaging in new activities and experiences wherever possible. They should be outgoing, friendly, patient, caring, enthusiastic and energetic, which will support in developing her social skills and help build her independence and confidence. Support my daughter to access activities such as • Taking her for walks, to the beach and parks • Engaging in activities, such as, messy play and water play • Introduction to activities in the outdoors • Going to farms • Encourage and engage my daughter in trying new things and going to new places • Assisting us as a family on days out. You will be required to administer peg feeds, give medications, and be observant of seizure activity and administer rescue medication, if required. It is worth noting that her seizures are currently controlled by medication, but this is subject to change.
