Hours per week: Casual- Cover for Permanent PA holidays and sick leave (10 hrs per week) The days and times may vary depending on whether a specific activity is identified or organised. Details will be discussed and agreed in advance between the employee and employer.

About the Employer

I am the employer for my husband who has been allocated a direct payment, to support with social activities, companionship, and outings. My husband is diagnosed with moderate Dementia and as such requires someone to be with him, due to his vulnerability and inability to manage day-to-day tasks without support and prompt. We are seeking a PA to become a companion and to build a friendship with him, allowing and encouraging his independence, time without me and to support him to access hobbies, interests, and social activities he enjoys. My husband is sociable and enjoys the interaction and company of others, he is physically fit however is now walking with a shuffle. He likes being outdoors, bowling, going for walks, going to the beach and to the pub for a pint. My husband enjoys banter, so will require someone who has good sense of humour with good communication skills, someone energetic and willing to participate in all activities with him. We are looking for a PA who is empathetic and patient, who will encourage him to be as independent as possible, prompting and supporting him to do as much as possible himself and in his own time. He enjoys being active and busy where possible. Some sessions may take place within the home. We are seeking someone to build a friendship and provide companionship in his chosen activities such as: - • Bowling • Going to the pub • Going to the beach/ Beamish • Engaging in activities (outdoors and indoors) • Conversing with and supporting him to complete general tasks himself with prompt and support. • Someone to identify suitable social activities and events. • someone to offer support and to encourage social opportunities. • someone to promote opportunities to help my husband develop friendships with others. • Provide companionship • Football matches and visits to stadiums • Going to breakfast/lunch clubs • Walk along Durham waterside/Penshaw/Herrington Park • Days out to Whitby/Berwick etc • Gardening • Visits to B&M/Home Bargains • Watching a good film My husband’s needs may vary from day to day, and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

Transport Requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.
