About the Employer

I am a young man with severe autism, severe learning disabilities, and I am non-verbal. I live at home with my parents, who support me and help me make decisions. Staff should report any important information, concerns, or updates to my parents or representatives. I enjoy going on bus journeys and watching the world go by through the window. I also enjoy shopping, listening to music, and getting out into the community. Music is something I find enjoyable and relaxing. I am happiest when I am supported by people who are patient, understanding, and respectful of my communication style and individual needs. I benefit from familiar routines and activities that I enjoy. I require 2:1 support at all times when accessing the community due to the risk of absconding. Staff must remain vigilant and ensure appropriate supervision is maintained to support my safety and wellbeing. I do not recognise many everyday dangers and risks, such as crossing roads safely, moving vehicles, busy public areas, or other hazards in the community. Because of this, I rely on staff to provide close supervision, guidance, and support to keep me safe at all times. I respond best to support that is calm, reassuring, and person-centred, with staff taking the time to understand my preferences, routines, and methods of communication. Staff should be aware that I may move away quickly towards something that interests me, so maintaining appropriate supervision is essential for my safety and wellbeing.

The main duties are: To support me on a one-to-one basis. To support me to maintain and develop daily living skills, including the use of public transport. To assist me with recreational activities. To organise and participate in events, activities and experiences which involve me in the local community in a positive manner. To encourage and enable me to make and maintain relationships with friends and family. Some support with taking to medial appointments. To transport me to and from my home and various locations as necessary. Mileage will be paid if using your own car. Some personal care is involved such as helping with going to the toilet. To undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties as specified by myself, or my representatives.

The following are ESSENTIAL requirements for this post: The ability to work on a one-to-one basis. The ability to work flexibly to ensure continuity of service. The ability to empower me in reaching my full potential in all aspects of independent daily living. The ability to communicate effectively with me and to put me at the centre of all you do whilst supporting me. The ability to take responsibility for my wellbeing and safety. To understand and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle and to take a positive and active role in activities The ability to organise and participate in events, activities and experiences which involve me in the local community in a positive manner. The ability to encourage and maintain positive relationships with friends, family and neighbours. To understand the importance of maintaining confidential information. The ability to cope under pressure and in stressful situations whilst maintaining security and stability for me. To be reliable, punctual, and honest. To possess a full clean driving licence with business insurance under the policy and be able to drive a car for use in taking me between my home and various other locations. To always demonstrate respect and dignity The ability to always maintain the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in the performance of your duties. Previous experience working with people with learning difficulties and autism
