A Personal Assistant is required to support a friendly and active child with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech and language needs. There are a multimodal communicator and uses some limited Makaton signing. He enjoys a range of activities including building train tracks, fitting number mats together, completing puzzles, and looking at books. They also responds well to sensory-based activities, particularly using a peanut ball and other activities that help meet his sensory needs. Main Duties Support to access and enjoy community activities. Encourage participation in outdoor play, visits to parks, shops, and soft play centres. Engage them in activities that reflect his interests and support his development. Provide opportunities for sensory-based play and activities. Offer gentle encouragement and reminders regarding personal care, including toileting and handwashing. Promote independence, confidence, and social engagement in a safe and supportive manner. The ideal candidate will: Be patient, caring, and reliable. Have an understanding of autism and communication differences. Be able to build a positive and trusting relationship. Be enthusiastic about supporting children to access community activities and develop independence. Experience of Makaton, autism, or working with children with additional needs would be beneficial, although not essential.
