About the Employer

Support Needed two days per week for a 24 year old Gentleman living independently in his own home with an Acquired Brain Injury. Are you a proactive and enthusiastic person willing to work one to one in Gentleman’s own home and to support with planning and engaging in home, community and leisure activities including support with attending local Gym. Car driver with valid licence and own vehicle with business insurance is essential. Training will be provided and full induction into client will be given. Applicant must be willing to work in partnership with client, his court of protection deputy and with his independent Brain Injury Case Manager.

The position will initially be offered on a casual contract for up to 12 hours per week. Following the successful completion of the probationary period, the role is intended to become a permanent position with the full 12 hours per week available.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
• Support with food shopping.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.

Support in attending and engaging in Gym essential.>


The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Transport Requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.

• Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
• Be able to work flexibly, adapting to the employers needs on a daily basis.
• Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
• Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved.
• Have a lively personality.


Understanding of Brain Injury and associated cognitive issues desirable but not essential. Induction into cognitive factors and needs will be given.

Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.

Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.
First Aid. Training will be provided by the employer.Acquired Brain Injury induction will be given by Case Manager
