About the Employer

A lady in her 50s is looking for a caring, patient, and considerate Personal Assistant to provide support and companionship following multiple strokes, which have resulted in sight loss and weakness on her left side. I am a friendly person who loves a good chat and has a great sense of humour once you get to know me. I can be quite shy when meeting new people, so initially the hours will be spread over a couple of days to allow us time to build a comfortable and trusting relationship. Once I feel at ease, you will see my true personality shine through. I really enjoy getting out and about, especially when the weather is nice, and I would love support from someone who would be happy to join me for a coffee, a walk, or an occasional trip out so that I am not always confined to the house. I also live with osteoporosis and an autoimmune condition, which means my immune system is weakened. Due to the effects of my strokes, I experience cognitive memory difficulties and may sometimes need gentle reminders and reassurance. This can occasionally increase my anxiety levels, so it is important that the person supporting me is understanding and calm in their approach. One of the most important qualities I am looking for is someone who will communicate clearly with me, particularly because of my sight loss. I need to be informed before anything is done to assist me so that I feel comfortable, safe, and involved in what is happening. The ideal person will be: Patient, kind, and considerate A good communicator who enjoys conversation Understanding of anxiety and cognitive difficulties Reliable and trustworthy Happy to support me to access the community and enjoy social outings Respectful of my independence and personal choices If you are friendly, compassionate, and enjoy helping someone live life to the fullest, I would love to hear from you.
