The Big Conversation on Care is giving people across England the chance to have their say about the future of adult social care.
It has been launched by the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, also known as the Casey Commission, which is looking at how adult social care should change in the future. The Commission wants to hear directly from the people who use care and support, those who provide it, families, carers and the wider public. What people say through the Big Conversation will help inform the Commission’s recommendations to Government.
Why your views matter
If you have a direct payment or employ a personal assistant (PA), you have valuable experience of how social care works in everyday life. PAs see the same arrangement from the other side.
This is an opportunity to share what you think adult social care should look like in the future. You might have views about what good care and support should achieve, who should receive support, or how people can be supported to live independently. You do not need to know anything about social care policy to take part. The Big Conversation is open to everyone in England.
How to take part
The first online phase is asking:
“When we are old or disabled, or have a serious illness, who should support us and how?”
You can submit your own idea and vote on ideas shared by other people.
The first online phase closes on Wednesday 23rd September 2026.
The platform reopens in the new year with another chance to have your say, and the Big Conversation continues until April 2027.
Please take a few minutes to have your say. The experiences of people who use and work in social care should be part of the conversation about what comes next.
