We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Beecham Family Award 2026, with the maximum award amount increased to £750 this year. Now in its fifth year, the award provides grants to people supported by Penderels Trust, helping to improve their wellbeing and independence.
The award honours the Beecham family, whose children, Julie and Jonathan, were supported by Penderels Trust to live full and independent lives.
Following Jonathan's death, his parents, Terry and Jean Beecham, established an award to help improve the lives of disabled people. Their generous legacy to Penderels Trust has enabled us to continue offering grants each year.
The award can help fund a wide range of things that make a positive difference to someone's life, including trips, short breaks, days out, activities and equipment.
Last year, we received more than 50 applications and were pleased to make eight awards. These helped people enjoy a variety of activities and experiences, including art courses, cinema visits and a flying experience, as well as providing equipment to support their daily lives.
The Beecham Family Award is open to anyone who uses Penderels Trust services, including people who have applied in previous years.
Applicants can request up to £750, although they do not need to apply for the full amount. We encourage everyone to apply for the amount they genuinely need.
The funding must cover the full cost of the item or activity requested, and certain exclusions apply. Please read the Guidance Notes carefully before applying.
Applications are now open and must be submitted by 5 pm on Friday 6th November 2026.
There are several ways to apply, including online, by email, by post, or through a voice note or video recording. Applications can also be completed on behalf of someone supported by Penderels Trust.

The successful applicants will be announced at our Annual General Meeting on 25th November 2026.
